Blood transfusion — blood transfusion) is a procedure that is formally equated with surgical intervention. It is performed using a needle inserted directly into the patient's vein, or a pre-installed venous catheter. Despite the apparent simplicity of blood transfusions, it should be carried out taking into account a number of factors, especially if we are talking about cancer patients. Indications for blood transfusion • Performing a blood transfusion is mandatory, and failure to do so can lead to a sharp deterioration in the patient's condition or even death: • acute blood loss (more than 15% of BCC); • traumatic shock; • severe surgery, accompanied by extensive tissue damage and bleeding. • Blood transfusion plays only an auxiliary role among other therapeutic measures: • anemia; • inflammatory diseases with severe intoxication; • ongoing bleeding, disorders of the coagulation system; • decreased immune status of the body; • long-term chronic inflammatory processes with reduced regeneration and reactivity; • some of poisoning. Contraindications to blood transfusion Blood transfusion is not allowed for allergies, heart diseases, hypertension of the 3rd degree, disorders of cerebral circulation, pulmonary edema, thromboembolic disease, severe renal failure, acute glomerulonephritis, bronchial asthma, hemorrhagic vasculitis, disorders of the central nervous system. In severe anemia and acute blood loss, transfusion is performed for all patients without exception, but with consideration and prevention of possible complications.
